Wild Wild Wild Card

The American League Wild-Card race is coming down to the final days.  The Rays, Indians, Royals, Yankees, Orioles and Rangers are all within 3 games.

Of those 6 teams, only 2 will play in October.  These last two weeks of baseball is the most exciting time in this sport. Of the two teams, I believe the Rays and Indians will get in.

Here's why:

1. Strength of Schedule: The Cleveland Indians have the easiest remaining two weeks of all the teams in the race.  They are currently playing the 100 loss Houston Astros...

2. Rays pitching. The Tampa Bay Rays pitching has been heating up at the right time.  Just last night they went 18 innings for the win against the Orioles.  Their bullpen allowed only 2 hits from the 8-18 innings. Unreal.  Not to mention they have David Price in the head of that rotation.  If the Rays can win the next two games against the Orioles that will basically eliminate any chance the O's have at a back-to-back playoff appearance.

With about 10 games remaining anything can happen, but teams like the O's, Yanks, and Royals will need help.  Their schedules are tough and they have not been able to put together a streak.  The Rangers have been struggling since mid-August and look to be heading to the off-season sooner than later.  The Indians are the hottest team of the bunch and have the easiest schedule remaining.

It will be a crazy two weeks. Have to love fall baseball.

With two weeks in the books many teams are in panic mode.  No team since 2009 started 0-2 and made the playoffs.  Imagine starting 0-3.....

I have had an up and down year picking games but look to get back on track this week.  I am currently 19-13 overall, here is my week 3 picks!!

Chiefs v. Eagles - Chiefs win in Andy Reid's return to Philly; KC may be the surprise team in the AFC.  With 4 probowlers on defense and Jamal Charles in their backfield, a playoff run does not sound unrealistic.

Bengals v. Packers- Good news for the Bengals, their defense looked very good in their divisional victory last night against Pittsburg.  Bad news, they have the Packers next week.  Green Bay's offense was clicking on all cylinders week 2, Packers offense is too much to handle.  Packers win.

Cowboys v. Rams - The Rams have given up 300 passing yards in each of their first two games.  Expect Dez-Romo to have another big game.  St. Louis make a habit losing close games late, Cowboys pull off a close one.

Chargers v. Titans- Could be a back and forth game throughout, but Rivers and the Chargers passing game has been on fire.  I'm taking San Diego.

Vikings v. Browns- After being somewhat shut down last week, AP will get back to his dominant ways.  He's going for 200 yards and an easy victory for the winless Vikings.

Bucs v. Pats- On paper, many will expect a Patriots blowout.  I do have New England winning but it will be a lot closer than expected.  The Pats have looked decent at best in their first two games.  They barely got by the Bills and Jets and could easily be 0-2.  Yet, the Bucs continue to beat themselves and are facing a 0-3 start.

Saints v. Cardinals- Drew Brees at home. Enough said, Saints win.

Giants v. Panthers- Both teams are 0-2 and desperate for a W.  The Giants will pull this one out to take pace in the struggling NFC East.

Lions v. Redskins- the Redskins secondary needs help, I am sure Megatron will embarrass them.  But, RGIII has to figure it out eventually right? Plus, the Lions love shooting themselves in the foot late in ball games, Skins in an OT victory.

Texans v. Ravens- the Ravens offense has struggled with the loss of Jacoby Jones.  Now, Ray Rice has hurt his hip.  These injuries have been a nightmare of the defending champs; I have the Texans in possibly week 3's best matchup.

Falcons v. Dolphins- Even though I have the Phins shocking the NFL world and winning the AFC East, I have the Falcons winning  this one.  Too much talent for ATL.

Bills v. Jets- In the weeks worse game I have E.J Manuel putting together just enough plays to beat the Jets in a low-scoring, boring game.

Colts v. 49ers- After the Niners were embarrassed Sunday night I expect their offense to come out firing.  For my surprise of the week, I have the niners beating the Colts by 20+ points. Harbaugh is pissed.

Seahawks v. Jaguars- the Jags may go 0-16, their fans are protesting to sign Tim Tebow.  Hawks will take care of business and this game will be over by halftime, poor Jaguars.

Bears v. Steelers- the Bears defense has been a turnover machine, and Pitts offense has been miserable.  Bears win.

Raiders v. Broncos- the Broncos are emerging as the early super bowl favorites.  They have put up over 80 points in their first two games.  I expect that trend to continue vs. the Raiders.  48-14 blowout on Monday night.

Seahawks Super Bowl Favorites??

After last night's beat down in Seattle, the Seahawks are becoming one of the favorites in the NFC.  They beat the defending NFC Champion 49ers 29-3.  The Hawks now jumped up to number 1 on most power rankings around the country.  They forced Colin Kaepernick to turn it over 5 times, and somehow kept them out of the end zone.  The Seattle Seahawks showed the NFL how good they are, and can be, on National Television last night; the other 31 teams should take note.

Richard Sherman is turning into one the league's best cornerbacks.  He shut down Anquan Boldin who had only one catch for seven yards.  Boldin was coming off a 200+ yard, 2 TD game.  The Hawks defense looks relentless.  In the first two weeks of the season they shut down two similar QB's.  Cam Newton and Kaepernick both have the ability to run and pass will efficiency.  That was no problem for Seattle.  Both teams were held to under 300 yards.

What does that mean?

1. Do not start a player in fantasy if they're playing Seattle!!

I was up by only 12 points going into the game last night in my league.  My opponent had Kaepernick and Boldin playing.  I thought I was facing another 0-2 start but somehow, I won by 5 points.  It was a minor miracle.

2. The Hawks are turning into one of my favorites to win the NFC.  Let's face it; they have some of the loudest and most devoted fans out in Seattle.  The "12th man" is a difference maker and will be come playoff time.  They also have a young quarterback that NEVER makes a mistake when the game is on the line.  For a second year player it amazes me how well Russell Wilson manages a football game.  Add in one of the best running backs in the league –Marshawn Lynch- and you have a very very good football team.  Not to mention, Percy Harvin will be coming back....

Harvin is one of the most explosive players in the league when he is healthy.  He can return punts, kicks, and has the skill set to catch 100 balls a year.  GULP.

I must admit I was not sold on the Hawks.  I expected the niners to take care of business last night, but they did the complete opposite.  They were dominated by a better all-around football team.  Ladies and Gentleman, the Seattle Seahawks are REAL.
